Welcome to the website for Alnwick in Bloom 2007. Our aim is to transform the town of Alnwick using flower power. We want our market town in Northumberland, England, to be as beautiful and litter free as possible for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
This is another important year in the distinguished history of Alnwick in Bloom. We have teamed up with the Alnwick Flower Show Committee to present an exciting new event - the Alnwick Spring Show to be held at The Alnwick Garden on Saturday, April 21, 2007. Click here for more details.
We hope to build on an excellent performance in the 2006 Northumbria in Bloom competition, which saw Alnwick gain a silver gilt award and finish runner-up to Morpeth in the best town category.
Other Alnwick successes in Northumbria in Bloom were:
Best individual commercial effort for the upkeep of external premises: The Northumberland Gazette (award of merit).
Best effort for upkeep of external premises, public houses and hotels: The Oaks Hotel (runner-up).
Best kept grounds of an old people's home: Abbeyfield, Alnwick (runner-up)
Best school horticultural project: Lindisfarne Middle School, Alnwick (runner-up)
Small neighbourhood awards: Harry Pottergate Garden, Alnwick (certificate of merit)
Last year Alnwick was chosen to host the two main Northumbria in Bloom meetings - the inaugural meeting on March 13 at the Northumberland Hall and the presentation of awards in September at The Alnwick Garden's Pavilion, which opened in April 2006. The awards were presented by Her Grace, The Duchess of Northumberland.
We hope you enjoy your virtual tour of Alnwick in Bloom and hope that it might encourage you to visit to see the splendour of the town for yourself.
